Hidden Talents 2023

Fishy Stories goes to 2023 Prom Coast Festival

Fish Creek Hall was brimming over with writers and illustrators of all ages at the Hidden Talents workshop on Sunday March 12, 2023. A display at the hall of 300 +stories from the 2022 Fishy Stories Writing Challenge created a fabulous sight and meant a steady stream of visitors to the hall all day.

Michael Hyde’s workshop was well attended with over 40 people in attendance. Focusing on finding your spark and how to start your story, Michael guided the workshop participants through a series of writing activities. Participants left with the beginning of their story written. Visit Michael’s website to learn more about his teaching and author experience. www.michaelhyde.com.au

Craig Smith’s workshop was also very well attended with over 35 people in attendance. Craig focussed on demonstrating with lots of hands-on drawing, how to develop and create a picture, bringing it to life with movement and expression, humour and drama. Participants left happy with an A3 graphite or ink wash. Visit Craig’s website to learn more about his illustration career. www.craigsmithillustration.com

A highlight of the day included some of the young authors from the 2022 Writing Challenge and Michael Hyde reading a selection of stories from the Writing Challenge eBook. The large crowd listened in hushed tones and burst into spontaneous applause for each of the young writers.

An inspiration for those who will be entering the 2023 Writing Challenge which opens in July 2023.
